"Honoring Our Legacy and Leadership"

Throughout the history of Central Memorial, there was slight evolution to our physical structure. As for leadership, six pastors and an (interim pastor) have faithfully led and shepherded our congregation. While we honor each leader who has served, we recognize the significant impact of those who dedicated many years to shaping our church’s growth and mission. Below, you will find photos and details of those who played a pivotal role in our church’s journey, leaving a lasting legacy of service, and leadership.

Reverend Richard h. Dixon

Organizer & First Pastor (April 2, 1946)

Reverend Richard H. Dixon was the visionary founder and first pastor of Central Memorial, established on April 2, 1946. With a heart for ministry and a passion for serving God’s people, he laid the foundation for a church built on faith, community, and the power of the Gospel.

Under his leadership, Central Memorial became a spiritual home

for many, fostering a strong sense of worship, discipleship, and outreach. His dedication to teaching ministering, strengthening believers, and impacting the community set the course for the church’s enduring legacy.

Reverend Dixon’s vision and commitment to continues to inspire generations, as his vision lives on through the ministry and mission of Central Memorial.

We also acknowledge REVEREND S. SMITH and REVEREND ROOSEVELT BAKER (no photos available) as second and third pastors of Central Memorial. They also were instrumental in the continuation and development of the church and the growth of its membership through October, 1950.

Reverend Arthur Hubbard Jr.

Pastor (October 10, 1950 – December 4, 1991)

Reverend Arthur Hubbard Jr. faithfully served as pastor of Central Memorial for over four decades, leading the congregation from October 10, 1950, to 1991. His tenure was marked by dedicated leadership, spiritual growth, and community outreach, shaping the church into a pillar of hope, faith and service.


Under Reverend Hubbard’s guidance, the church experienced significant expansion, both spiritually and physically, as he worked tirelessly to strengthen worship, discipleship, and community engagement. His passion for the Gospel and unwavering commitment to ministering to left a profound and lasting impact on the church family.


Through his faithful service and visionary leadership, Reverend Hubbard built upon the foundation laid by his predecessor, ensuring that Central Memorial remained a beacon of hope, faith, and love for generations to come.

Reverend Earnest Huntley


Pastor (July 1, 1992 - August 5, 1997)

Reverend Earnest Hunley began serving as the pastor of Central Memorial in 1991. Though his tenure was brief, his leadership and dedication to the ministry contributed to the ongoing spiritual growth of the church.

During his time as pastor, Reverend Hunley remained committed to ministering to and strengthening the congregation, and continuing the church’s mission of faith and service. His efforts helped maintain the church’s foundation while preparing the way for future leadership.

The legacy of his time at Central Memorial is remembered as part of the church’s rich history of pastoral guidance and service.

Reverend HENRY ROBERSON

Interim Pastor (August, 1997 - May, 1998)

Reverend Henry Roberson was the interim pastor of Central Memorial. He played a pivotal role in guiding Central Memorial through a transitional period of leadership.

His focus was to strengthen the church community by fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, encouraging participation in the church activities and to continue to encourage and build hope within the congregation.

Reverend Roberson's leadership was marked by his dedication to maintaining continuity in church services and programs, ensuring that the church remained a vibrant and supportive place for its members during this interim period.

Reverend Benjamin F. Turk Sr.

Pastor (May 1, 1998 – December 31, 2024)

Reverend Benjamin F. Turk Sr. faithfully led Central Memorial from 1998 until his retirement on December 31, 2024. Throughout his 26 years of dedicated service, he shepherded the congregation with wisdom and compassion.

Reverend Turk was a passionate preacher and teacher, committed to equipping believers, expanding ministries, and deepening the church’s impact both inside and outside its walls. His leadership saw the continuation of strong traditions, and outreach initiatives that enriched the lives of many.

As a pastor, Reverend Turk’s legacy is also one of faithfulness and perseverance even as the church faced challenges. His commitment to preaching the Gospel at Central Memorial will be remembered for years to come.
